Election night

Save Our Tulsa co-chairman John Brock answers a phone in his home Tuesday night while watching the TV as election returns came in on the status of the three ballot initiatives the group supported as well as a proposition to replace the current mayor-city council government with a council-city manager government. Two of the three initiatives were approved, and the council-city manager proposition was voted down. The bipartisan Save Our Tulsa campaign was seven years in the making. As far as election night coverage goes, I had it about as easy as possible. I had one assignment, one person to photograph. John Brock thinks Tulsa’s city government is broken and for the last seven years has been trying to fix it. Two of the measures he helped bring to this year’s general election ballot ending up passing. John was great, very welcoming, and even though I had the shots I needed within five minutes, I stayed for almost 45 minutes just talking and continuing to watch election results with him.
