According to ESPN officials, the College GameDay crowd at Francis Quadrangle was estimated at 18,000. If accurate, that would break an attendance record for the show.

Totally worth getting up at 5 a.m. for, and starting to shoot in pitch black darkness. As soon as producers cranked up the speakers, the crowd erupted and stayed jacked up for four hours. Unbelievable energy and enthusiasm.

The number of media and “guests” backstage seemed to take ESPN by surprise as much as the record-breaking attendance of 18,000 people, but I guess that’s what you get whenever you do a show literally in the middle of the journalism school side of campus.
